The Vibes: By K'la "Virtual Experience" coming soon!
D.C. Native singer-songwriter K'la Soul is here to bring the vibes and empowerment to the people! K'la Soul embodies the essence of Rnb/Jazz with a touch of Pop and a dab of Trap. K'la brings years of classical Voice, musical theater experience, fused with Hip Hop Vibes and D.C. Culture.
Performing has always been apart of her life. At age 5, K'la performed her first solo in the church choir under the direction of her mother Karen LeCounte. She continued performing throughout her childhood and pre teenage years (Children of the Gospel, Pg county Honors chorus, Duke Ellington Youth summer intensive, Jones Haywood Dance academy, Various talent shows). K'la attended Hyattsville Middle Schools Magnet Arts program where she engulfed herself in the rigorous music theory curriculum and participated in nationwide competitions and adjudications, and won! High school approached quickly and K'la found herself enrolling in the world renown Duke Ellington school of the Arts in Washington, D.C. as a Vocal performance major.Duke Ellington was a second home to Soul! Both her mother and father attended Ellington for high school in the late 70s. There Soul met her long time vocal coach Mr Edward Jackson. Mr Jackson shaped countless voices of our generation including renown Opera Singer Denise Graves. Before his passing in 2016, He and K’la remained close through his illness.
K’la shortly attended Columbia College Chicago majoring in Vocal performance with a minor in music technology. After only 1 semester of school she was forced to return to dc due to financial hardship. Upon her abrupt return, K’la and longtime friend Jocelyn Renee launched “Rezonate”, a full service event planning operation providing quality entertainment and nightlife experience. In addition to event planning Soul also continued to sing classically with the Howard University Chapel choir who broadcasted every Sunday morning on WHUR-FM 96.3 Radio station. During her time with The HU Chapel Choir, they were personally invited to perform at the White House(Obama) three times. K’la was a featured soloist each time. K’la has also performed for the National Black Caucus, NAACP, Former South African President Jacob Zuma and Daughters of the the Revolution.
In 2014 K’la decided to move to New York City for more opportunity and exposure. She wrote, personally recorded and released her first mixtape “Finally” in 2017. From that stemmed many performance opportunities around the city! In late 2017 K’la also traveled with Rapper “Le’Asha” to Paisley Park to compete in their first ever Battle of the Bands! Paisley Park is Prince’s extraordinary private estate and production complex in Chanhassen, Minnesota. K’la spent the last month of 2017 touring Europe with the “La Bella Voce” ensemble. While in Florence, Italy she received the “Angel Medallion Award”, commission by John Pope II and awarded by The Vatican. She is actively songwriting and producing with other artists and plans to continue to release a new project at the end of this year!
